Foursquare?

Foursquare?

Postby Bruce » Tue Mar 09, 2010 8:26 am

User lateNighter asked me this question and I thought I'd open it up for discussion.. Does anyone here use Foursquare and if so do you think it would be interesting to incorporate it into CacheBerry in some way?

Never heard of it until now. Having Googled it looks interesting but I'd rather see development time spent improving caching-related features than adding something kind of related, especially when there already are apps out there for Foursquare.

All IMO of course 8-)

I agree, keep plugging away with the current CB requests. Or that CB for Windows Mobile. Okay, I'll stop.

I'm not really that interested in Foursquare. It might interfere with my geocaching. Keep the cool geocache features (and bug fixes!) coming.

Okaaaay.... foursquare looks like a combo Twitter/Google Latitude type of system, am I close?

The first thing that's mentioned is to "Sign in and let everybody know where you are", or words to that effect. I think I'll not do that and stick to geocaching. :) If you want to add that sort of functionality to CacheBerry, please make it so that the user opts in, rather than having to (or not being able to :o ) opt out.

Cheers

np, looks like I won't be doing it anyway - but even if I did it would always be optional, apart the privacy implications is would also use data.

Just thought I'd add a note here. I use Foursquare (it's fun, but I could certainly survive without it) and I don't really see a need to incorporate any use of Cacheberry to it. I can update people where I am using the existing Twitter function of CB, and the real purpose of Foursquare is to be able to connect with people while you're at a location. If I'm at a cache long enough for somebody to get the alert, come looking for me, and actually find me there, I'm doing something wrong!
